"Build Your Business with Business Cards" Week: Oct 12-18, 2008
Business
cards are still the most popular marketing tools of small business, and
with good reason. There's simply nothing else that's as portable,
affordable, versatile and effective. Besides, people actually EXPECT you
to give one to them.
It's about time we celebrated this humble marketing powerhouse.
"Build Your Business with Business Cards Week" is both a great
opportunity to examine existing cards for effectiveness, and a great
excuse to mingle and exchange cards!
On this web page (and elsewhere on the site) you'll find articles,
ideas and information to help you revitalize your cards and/or plan events
for Business Card Week.
Promotional Freebies/Downloads
The following resources are free for your use, as long as none are altered in any way and any resource information, if given, is included and kept intact. Share these with your friends - they'll thank you for it!
- Business Card Critique:
Gather your friends, print out copies of our "Business
Card Critique Checklist", and get some honest feedback on the
effectiveness of YOUR business card.
- Article: "Business Card Design in 9 Easy Steps"
Printable file; permission granted to use at meetings/gatherings.
- Play "Business Card Bingo"
If you're looking for an enjoyable way to meet new people or renew
acquaintances at your next business function, why not play
"Business Card Bingo"?
The name is actually somewhat misleading,
since no one actually calls out numbers or columns. Instead, a card
which RESEMBLES a bingo card is given to each player. The particular
card I designed has 16 squares. (Download sample
as PDF file. This is suitable for printing on your own card stock or
heavy paper. Two should fit side-by-side on 8.5 x 11 paper in
landscape format.)
Guests mingle for a designated time
period and try to find people who have business cards with the
characteristics mentioned on the playing board. They can either have
the person with the card initial the space, or collect cards as proof.
(If you do it that way, be sure to tell attendees in advance to bring
plenty of cards.)
Give a prize, if you'd like, to whoever
completes the board first, or who fills in the most squares. It's also
easy to personalize this game. Ask people to find someone from each
department in your company, for example, or from each office in your
state.
This is a fun way to encourage people to
mingle outside their usual circle of acquaintances, and is appropriate
year-round. Money-Making Idea
